Day 490

Switch, by Chip and Dan Heath, is a book for everybody. I thought it was terrific. It's a book about change. More-so, it is a book about how to influence change.

Whether that change is internal or external, there is at least a nugget or two in here for nearly any situation. From parenting (my favorite part), to personal fitness, to community or business overhaul, Switch offers numerous strategies for "How to change things when change is hard:" how to initiate the change and how to make it stick.

As I read through the book, I couldn't help but draw parallels to others I've really enjoyed: Mindset, Atomic Habits, Thinking Fast and Slow, to name a few.

Switch, however, is uniquely its own, and its goal is to help the reader navigate change and ensure that it is lasting.

The Path, the Elephant, and the Rider (terms used to refer to the environment, heart, and mind) are all distinctly different, yet intricately connected elements of change. The Heath's share how to influence each of these areas independently and collectively.

"For individuals' behavior to change, you've got to influence not only their environment but their hearts and minds."

This book will teach you how to orchestrate that change in a way that will actually work.
