"The reason for being can be cultivated in your personal life. But it's also entirely possible to create it with your work. In fact, not only is it possible, it's essential."
Shawn Askinosie, in a previous life, was former wildly successful trial lawyer. Now, he owns a Chocolate company: Askinosie Chocolate. I bought his book after listening to his compelling conversation with Joe Ferraro, on the One Percent Better Podcast, in June 2020. In his book, Meaningful Work, he outlines his business model, among many other things, including his "Rule of Life." While this book is very much about the chocolate, it isn't about the chocolate.
The introduction and chapter one will reach out and grab you by the emotions. And as the rest of the story unravels, you might find yourself moved on several different levels: mentally, physically, professionally, vocationally, humanitarianly (that might not be a real word, but I'm sticking with it), and most definitely, spiritually.
The book is thoroughly engaging, and Askinosie bares his soul as he tells his story. A story which most certainly is not about the chocolate, while, simultaneously, it is all about the chocolate. Without the chocolate, there would be no story. And now, I'd really like some chocolate. I feel like it would be irresponsible of me not to give Askinosie Chocolate a try at this point.
