Last night was the first completely kid free night Sara and I have had in several years. We arrived in Chico, dropped the kids off at Grandma's, went and had dinner, and headed back to Caitlin and Andrew's empty house to a couple hours of quiet relaxation before going to sleep without setting an alarm.
I woke up, around 5, rolled over and went back to sleep. Then, I woke up again, around 7, and rolled over and went back to sleep. I climbed out of bed around 9 o'clock, well rested and ready to start Thanksgiving Day already very thankful.
I am thankful for too many things to list, so I'll only list a few.
First and foremost, I am thankful for Sara, Mia, Ace, Hope, and the little bun in the oven that we'll meet in June.
I am thankful for the rest of my family, both by blood and by law...on that note, might I suggest marrying in to a family where one of your brothers-in-law is a successful restaurateur and chef who prepares delicious holiday meals and takes care of 99.999% of the meal prep and cooking responsibilities. Thanks, J.
I am also thankful for my friends and colleagues and the freedom we all share together in the good old US of A.
Finally, I am thankful for this day of Thanksgiving where we all get together and celebrate gratitude.
Let us remember, gratitude deserves more attention than a single day of the year. While it certainly deserves its own special day, let us also spend more time in gratitude, counting our blessings, and expressing our thankfulness throughout the other 364.
