Draw Your Own Map
Updated: Dec 21, 2019
You don't always have to know in what direction you are going. Sometimes you just need to start walking.
Put one foot in front of the other and go. Moving forward does not require leaps and bounds. It only requires action, one step at a time. In The Art of Work, Jeff Goins refers to this as building a bridge.
Your path doesn't have a map. There might be others who have walked a similar road before you, and they might be able to teach you a thing or two about how to navigate, but everybody's path is different.
Everybody's path has detours that are unique to their journey, and if you want to make a real difference, you can't rely on someone else's bridge. It is up to you to survey the terrain, seek out guides when you need them, sometimes in the most unlikely places, so that you can build your own bridge and draw your own map as you go.
