Grandma (my mother) is here visiting, from Florida, which means that everything Ace normally throws a fit about is now okay...as long as grandma does it. Things like bath time, Vaseline time (he has pretty bad eczema and gets all lubed up twice a day...and he HATES it, but he was all smiles tonight because grandma was doing it), tooth brushing time, turn off the TV and read book, bed time, and I'm sure dinner went off without a hitch as well (I wasn't home yet).
Grandparents are special. They make everything better. I'm sure when we were kids, our grandparents always knew how much we appreciate them. And, while that appreciation hasn't changed as I have aged, the expression of it is clearly not that of a 3 year old.
My time with Grandma and Grandpa (Bone and Woodward) as a child will always bring back cherished memories. Two of them are gone now, and I miss them often; and writing this has me feeling nostalgic. I could probably fill up 10 more pages with stories of times spent with grandmas and grandpas: from Grandparents Days at Shasta Elementary, to Clam Beach in Arcata, CA a week in Starbuck, Washington, and helping sell chalk boxes at craft fairs.
Let your grandparents know how much you love and appreciate them before it's too late.
Sorry I haven't told you about this yet, Grandma Bone (don't worry, I'll tell her tomorrow). I love you lots.
Grandpa Woodward got some blog shout outs yesterday. I love you too.
