Adversity is the great separator. It separates the weak from the strong, the resilient from the fragile, the adaptable from the uncompromising, the winners from the losers.
Adversity will show you what you are made of. Will you cower and crumble, or will you rise above it and overcome?
Darwinian theory championed the phrase "Survival of the Fittest." While Darwin may have been referring to fitness in terms of the biological ability of organisms to take on genealogical adaptations and evolve based on the requirements of their environment (I am in no way shape or form an evolutionist, and while I may act like an ape from time to time, I do not believe they are my ancestors), I translate fitness in this context as the ability to prevail in the face of adversity.
Adversity comes in many forms and fashions.
Conquering adversity requires strength, resilience, and often a great deal of mental fortitude.
Cliché as it may be, control that which you can control and let go of the things that you can not.
Adversity can only defeat you if you let it.
Rise above and overcome.
