The recent death of a family friend has caused us to rethink the way we do things around here.
Before you get too sentimental, I'm talking about a blender.
When we went blender shopping 4-ish years ago, we elected to go with the cheapest one that Bed Bath and Beyond had to offer. The Black and Decker blender we ended up with functioned well enough, while it lasted. But a few weeks ago, it decided that it was time to start spewing its contents all over the kitchen. It was time for a change.
No hard feelings toward Black and Decker. It's not their fault. I'm fully aware that when it comes to appliances, you generally get what you pay for. And it served its purpose.
With Christmas around the corner, I decided it was okay to splurge on the next blender and got Sara her Christmas present a couple of months early.
She wanted a NutriBullet, so I got her the NutriBullet Blender Combo. I must say, it's pretty awesome. I'm feeling a little guilty. I think Mia and I have used her Christmas gift more than she has.
It makes the smoothest of smoothies, and to drink them, all you have to do is swap the blade for a lid and violà! If the quality we paid for this time around has any implications on longevity, we'll be drinking smooth smoothies for at least a decade.
