Day 245

When I get frustrated, or when things don't go as planned or as desired, I have a place to go to find peace. I actually have several places to go.


First, a hug from my wife goes a long way, as does a hug from my kids.


Nothing against the others, but there is something about a big hug from a one year old that makes everything else seem to vanish.


I also run through a list in my head of all the things that I am grateful for because I've read in numerous places that you can't fee grateful and anxious at the same time.


As of 245 days ago, I also come here to write, and I usually feel much better after dumping some words on paper.


The other thing that I do, and perhaps the most important, is go to my Bible and spend some time in prayer.


Today, the words from Jeremiah 29:11 kept ringing in my head, and they were exactly the words I needed.


My favorite translation, and likely the most popular, comes from the NIV:


For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.


So, if you are feeling stressed, lost, anxious, or anything less than your best, pray, go find a hug from someone special, spend time in gratitude, write.


Any one of these might help put you in better spirits.


Do all four, and you're almost certain to find the peace you're seeking (that's not science, just something I've determined by personal experience).
