I'm going to take a risk and invest in myself/my family. We have an 18 month interest free credit card, and we're going to publish a children's book.
I asked Mia's permission first, because when I initially asked her to do illustrations, she was excited. It looked like a giant weight was lifted off of her shoulders. I certainly wasn't trying to burden her with the request in the first place, but there might have been some obligation felt on her end. The idea sounded like fun, but it is a big time commitment for her, and between high school, water polo, and just being a teenager, she doesn't have much free time to share.
So with Mia's blessing, we are moving forward. I don't expect it will make millions of dollars, I'm smarter than that. But I do think it would be cool if we can break even. Anything more than that will be ice cream on the cake (I don't want icing on my cake. Ice Cream is way better).
Looking forward to this new adventure.
I'll keep you posted.
