Yesterday was a milestone day for me in the world of push-ups. I have yet to complete 100 push-ups in a single set, but I have done 250 push-ups a day for 12 straight weeks. Week 10 and 11 were really tough. I felt like my body was telling me to knock it off. But I kept going because I had my sights set on 12 weeks. Week 12 was a piece of cake. And the streak remains intact.


I haven't gone for a one set max in a while. I'm thinking I will give it another go at 100 on Friday to see where I'm at. My best set to date without a rest was 75.


My biggest takeaway so far is this: there is no excuse not to get a workout in. "I don't have access to a gym" is a cop out. Admittedly, one that I have used myself in the past. You don't have to do 250 push-ups a day, you don't have to pound the pavement for miles at a time, and you certainly don't need a gym membership to be physically active.


Requirements: the desire to stay fit, a plan, a little motivation, and a lot of discipline and drive to get started and keep going. Once you make the commitment and choose to honor it over and over and over and over again, it becomes a habit that you don't even think twice about doing because it is a part of who you are.


So quit making excuses. Get active. Get stronger. Get healthier. Get better. All you need is the living room floor (and maybe some self-control in the kitchen...I'm getting better at that part, but I still have a ways to go...pizza and burritos are the enemy...because they are delicious).


Your mental and physical well being will thank you.
