"What did you do to your face?"
Bill: "I was shaving in the dark." Proceeds to talk more, revealing this isn't the first time it has happened.
Don't shave in the dark. The risk isn't worth the reward. Each day, we are faced with decisions. The most important ones generally carry some sort of inherent risk reward relationship. It's important to weight both sides of the argument before making your choice.
I think that there are a number of different ways you might be able to direct this conversation metaphorically; however, when it comes to shaving in the dark (much like peeing into the wind, or onto an electric fence), the risk can't possibly be worth the reward.
Make a better decision, preferably one that doesn't leave you wounded (or electrocuted and covered in pee...metaphorically).
