6:00 AM Wake-up
Brian Kight provided me with some more food for thought this morning. The theme of his daily discipline this morning calls for the setting of standards rather than rules. I love it. I live it. The message is great.
"Rules are what you have to do. Standards are who you are."
I agree wholeheartedly, and I have for sometime.
He closed with a quote from his Instagram page, and that was what really spoke to me. It was a message that I spent the better part of the past decade only doing half of.
It has been since the start of 2019 (when I bought a bunch of books, started listening to podcasts, subscribed to blogs and newsletters and other e-mail messages from thinkers I respect, and laid the framework for journaling and blogging) that I really began working on the last part of the message. I began building myself.
"Don't just build a career. Build yourself."
I am currently under construction. As I build myself, I have become better at my job, which is great, but more importantly, I have become more aware of who I am. And I don't ever intend to stop my self construction. The better me that I can be, the better man I am for everyone and everything around me.
