5:30 AM Wake-up
I took Ace to the Aquarium of the Bay on Pier 39, in San Francisco, yesterday. It is a small aquarium with 2 levels, and patrons can make as many laps as they would like. We did.
You also have the option to make a lap (or three), go watch (smell), the sea lions at the far end of the pier, grab a bite to eat (if you can afford it), watch a cheesy juggling act on the outdoor stage, and go back to the aquarium, show them the stamp on your wrist, and make another lap (or three)...wow, long sentence, I'm out of breath just typing it...
It was great fun.
Ace and I don't get many Boys Only Days, and when we do, they are usually spent at the baseball field.
Ace loved it. His favorite part might have been hugging all of the stuffed animals in the gift shop.
My favorite part was watching him, taking great pleasure in his youthful (toddlerful?) exuberance and unfathomable joy.
If you are looking for some fun, if you want to smile, or you simply need a reminder of how to live in the moment and enjoy life, go watch kids play.
Life is tough. It can break you, if you let it. At one time, all of us were that 3 year old, unencumbered by the burdens and anxieties that life has to offer. While the 3 year old is oblivious to those things, just because they've been offered to us doesn't mean we have to accept them.
We choose the load we carry. Heavy or light, it's up to you. Choose fun, choose joy, choose love, choose hope, choose faith, choose the Light. Share your choice with others so that they too may be empowered to choose the lighter load.
