6 Years
Today is Sunday, December 13th, 2020.
On this day, two thousand one hundred and ninety-two days ago (that's 6 years - two of which included a leap year - for those of you who don't want to do the math) there was a wedding.
On Saturday, December 13th, 2014, in Chico, CA, it was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the skies were blue, and the weather was perfect for the intimate outdoor wedding we had hoped for.
Late that afternoon, in my parents backyard, under an alter made of birch branches that I built in the rain of the previous day, Sara and I were married.
The gathering consisted almost exclusively of our immediate family. While we would have loved to include more people to share in our special day, it was all we could afford, and it was perfect.
However, since the rest of the world wasn't there to share in our perfect day, I figure there is no better time than now to share the vows I read that day, as a public declaration and a reminder to us of what our marriage means to me.
It's the best thing I've ever written, inspired by the best girl I know.

Pretty Lady
Dressed in white
I pledge to you
My love tonight
I vow to always hold you tight
Forevermore
Your smile brightens up the sky
More inspiring than the sunset
The beauty that sparkles in your eye
I will never let you forget
I vow to always hold you tight
And catch you if you fall
To care for you when you're not well
To be your supporting wall
Together we will share the joy
And sadness that life brings
When our hearts are joined
And we are one
We can accomplish anything
I love you, Sara
And only you
Until the end of time
I'll thank Jesus
Every night
That he let you be mine
